Nneka Ogwumike’s WNBA career may be coming to an end, but the veteran forward isn’t ready to step away from professional basketball.
According to Front Office Sports, Ogwumike intends to play in Project B, a new global women’s basketball league scheduled to debut in January 2027.
The development comes shortly after Ogwumike announced that she will retire from the WNBA following the 2026 season, bringing an end to a decorated 15-year career that includes a WNBA championship, MVP award and 11 All-Star selections.
Project B will give Ogwumike an opportunity to continue competing on an international stage while beginning the next chapter of her basketball career.
For fans who aren’t ready to say goodbye to one of the WNBA’s most accomplished players, Ogwumike’s reported plans provide some good news: she may be leaving the WNBA, but she isn’t leaving basketball just yet.
